What B1 gets you to

Get by at work and with authorities, and tell others what happened.

At B1 the lessons move from everyday errands to working life and Swedish society: a job interview, a formal email, a short presentation, your rights at work and the unions, the school and welfare systems, elections, contracts and the right to roam. You also learn to tell a longer story, summarise what you have read, and complain or apologise politely.

B1 ends with a review and a level test, so you know when you are ready for the next level.

  2. Practice

Drills that use what you have just learnt: fill the gap, put the words in order, choose, type and listen.

  3. Translate

Write Swedish sentences yourself. An AI teacher checks each answer and explains what to change.

  4. Speak

Say your answers out loud. The AI teacher listens and gives you feedback on what you said.

Questions and answers

Is B1 the right level for me?

Take the free level test: it needs no account and tells you where to start. After you sign up, a short placement test can also move you up if you already know some Swedish.

How long does B1 take?

B1 has 11 weeks of lessons, one theme a week. That is a guide, not a timetable: you learn at your own pace, and your progress is saved after every step.

Which SFI course is B1?

Roughly corresponds to SFI kurs D — the level SFI finishes at. Skrol is not an official SFI course, so take this as a rough guide; your SFI school decides your course and grade.

What does the AI teacher do?

In the Translate and Speak steps you write and say Swedish sentences yourself. The AI teacher checks each answer, tells you what is right and what to change, and explains why, like a patient tutor.
